I finally got my first TC Contender. It came with a factory 223 barrel and a mounted TC "Electo Dot" scope. I just finished detail stripping / cleaning it. Trigger feels light and crisp. Lock up is tight. I think I got a good one.

I already had a 7TCU barrel that has a mounted Burris 10X scope waiting in the wings. I have brass, dies and bullets for current chamberings. Next is a 17 HM2 barrel then the 30-30, 7-30, 22 rf, 375 WIN, maybe a 17 REM to use the stuff I got from OLDFART..... Does it ever end?

What I need: On the upper barrel one of the forend mountings is missing. It is that dovetail thingy. Anyone have one?

nice looking gun! Anyone know if they make a 45-70 for it? I already have a 14in 7mm TCU and 10in 44mag. but would like a 45-70.

Of course they do. I just wrapped a 23 incher to ship tomorrow. You can find barrels in that caliber from 12 inches up to 23. Here's a link to Greybeards Contender Classifieds, there are several listed for sale there. http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php?board=81.0

Don't have the dovetail thing. Call T/C and they will, no doubt, hook you up. I do have a Pachmyer forearm with about 8 or so mounting adaptors for sale. It's the soft rubber forearm made out of the same stuff the Pachmyer grips are made from.

I was shooting my 12" ported 45-70 Contender barrel yesterday.
Barks loud and kicks hard.
Twenty rounds of Remington 300gr epress loads and I was all done for the day.
1-1/2" five shot group at 50 yards.

I got mine off ebay for a couple of c-notes a year ago. I would check Gunbroker and Auction Arms until one turns up. I don't believe that T-C offers the short barrels for the Contender in 45-70 any more.

Go to Ed's TC, he'll have several in various lengths, new and used. Good guy to deal with.

I bought a G-2 last year.it is a blast:-D.the 14"30/30 barrel was the first.I put a weaver 4x on it and it is deadly accurate.I haven't shot any cast out of it yet but after deer season going to try it out.

after the G-2 I bought a encore and now have 5 barrels for it.
took my first deer with it this year with the 7-08 barrel.

Yep, and it can rear it's ugly head again at any moment.

in remission for like 20 years then wham want a .223 barrel (i have a 222 but it's not a bull barrel so I need one), .357 maximum would be nice ( I have a 44 mag the the maximum should shoot so much flatter), .22 LR we I need a barrel to practice with - ammo is expensive, maybe a nice .375 winchester for cast bullet shooting - hey I already have molds and dies.

I do miss my 30-30 ackley improved barrel but I can always keep a look out - actually a nice 7.62x39 barrel would be even better for cast bullets or a 300 whisper barrel if I can find one with a fast twist at a reasonable price.

All to go with the 5 or 6 barrel I already have - yep it's an addiction [smilie=s:

Well if the 44 Mag is a 14" just have BELLMTCS open it up o a 444 Marlin. Not that is one I love. I have a 14" hunter barrel that is ported and it is a great shooter in 444!
The 22 Hornet must be my favorite as I have a 10", 12" and a 20" bull
The 223 must be #2 as I have the 14" hunter and a 20" bull
The 357 Max is also a good one.

Yep I kind of broke the addiction as I sold off 7 different ones last year that I was not using.
But then I did turn around and buy a new G2 frame. I must get back on that 10 step progam...
