I got my new PID controller from Frozone a couple of weeks ago. I got it out today and cast some bullets. I read the instructions (well done indeed) about three times and realized how simple it was to use. The controller is set for 700 degrees when shipped. I plugged the controller in, plugged the Lee pot to the controller and jury rigged a way to hold the temperature probe into the molten lead.

The unit kept my lead 700 plus or minus five for a two hour session. I am pleased with the unit and look forward to using it. Dealing with Frozone was a pleasure. He answered all my questions and shipped it very promptly.

With good temp control you might find that you cast just as good at 650 or even lower when the mold is hot.
The cooler the pot , the faster you can git er done.

How fast or what temperature depends on how big the bullet is compared to the blocks, how many cavities, and what the mold composition is.
