While at the local gun auction today,

My wife was with me. She is a very cool character indeed.
We were sitting waiting for certain guns to come up to the block, just chatting and relaxing. When a neat little Stevens Favorite in 22 came up to auction, my wife jabs me in the ribs and says, "I looked at that one while you were checking out other stuff, and like it. Buy it."
So it did, under orders of course.
Turns out it is a nice little rifle. The bore is in good shape and the furniture isn't mangled. The bore is soaking right now in prep for de-fouling.
I'll get some pics up ASAP.

I actually went there to buy a Vetterli, but for whatever reason it went sky high. The bidding finished at just under 600$, which in my mind was pretty excessive.
The auction also had a Krag, which Bubba had owned for a while. That one went to the same guy that bought the Vetteril. It sold at 550$. I bailed out at 400$. The bore was very dark and pitted, so it would have been a bit of a **** shoot.
Gunnerd is right, I was allowed to buy her a rifle!
It's cool though, she was pretty excited about it. When we got back, she helped me in the lab while broke it down and cleaned it. I'll hopefully get some pics up today.

I went to one auction with an ex girlfriend and they had a real nice 30-30 Win stamped 30 WCF. It was in fantastic shape so I wanted it. I got up to go to the bathroom and told her that if the 30-30 came up to bid on it for me.
I got back and we sat and sat and I said "wonder when that lever is going to come up". She said it already had and some guy bought it for $250. What? Why didn't you bid on it? Cause you told me to bid on the 30-30 and the auction guy said it was a 30 WCF!
