Greetings,
I am stuck ! I casted then powder coated and then lee sized these bullets to .452 loaded 125 of them . Went out to test fire and the rounds will not chamber. seated at 1.27 PMC brass brass length is .889 ( as I recall ) 5.grn of 700x 2 cavity mold bullets are pretty.

shortened the length to as far as 1.19 still no go. Cleaned RCBS carbide dies double checked all my varibles.
will not load into 2 different 1911s or my Glock 21sf cast barrel.

I have had to over look something, just can't pinpoint it. gotta be something simple ?

thanx

Did you pull your barrel and do the drop test?

Got any cases left that you didn't load? See if any empty case will drop into the barrel after removing it from the gun. Then try a loaded round.

bullet drop test worked fine
didn't think to use empty brass casing.
factory rounds fitted correctly in to all 3 barrels.
also put rounds back through the sizer die to see if that would be of any help

The Lee 452-228-1R has a FAT nose.
I seat "uncoated" boolits to 1.210"
I've heard people seat as short as 1.190 to cycle in some 1911 guns.
NOW, you've added a few thousands of powder coating to that already fat nose.
I think you need to use a boolit with a different profile if you want to powder coat.
My 2¢

JonB.
think you hit the DAMN nail on the head.
ran another batch of 452-228-1r . This time I was pretty stingy on the powder coating set oal at 1.21 chambered an fired fine.
loaded with 5.0gr of 700x all cycled well no pressure signs .
Now I hope the batches of 228's will work in the 454 Ruger -460 S&W - 454 handi rifle or 460 S&W encore
gotta work in at least one of those. hate to melt em down with the powder coating already on
thanx
