my new barrel will be a encore in 444 marlin in a 20" mgm barrel with an integral muzzle brake. my question is what bullets to use and they have to be 1500-1700fps. right now i think beartooth from 300, 330, and 355gr. i can't use bullets molds because of a stroke, right side don't work:). is there any loads that will work? right now i have rel7, h322, and a few others

thanks!!!

I load two boolits for my Marlin 444. One is for everyday practice and fun shooting and the other is for elk. The practice load is a 255 gr (actually drops at 263 gr) plain base semi wadcutter which I launch at 1250 fps with 29 grs of 5744 powder (other good powders are 2400 and 4198 for a similar velocity). The "business" load is the Lee 310 gr gas check boolit that I launch with 4198 for an MV of 1900 (sorry, I don't recall the charge weight). That 255 gr boolit can be replaced by a 240 gr and with either, the point of aim difference from the 310 boolit is not very much making the lighter load great fun to shoot without being beat up by recoil.

You should be able to achieve your velocity goals with Hornady 300 grain XTP or the Sierra 300 grain 44 Magnum bullets. Both are very accurate. You didn't say to what use you will put them.

to shoot deer with. the cast bullets should take a deer out to 100 yds( like 50 or 60yds max) and i have one place that can go 150yds tops.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought Beartooth made jacketed bullets; I see that I was mistaken. The Hodgdon web site has loads using H322 and 300 grain SFT HP bullets: http://data.hodgdon.com/ You can work up a safe load using these data for starting.
