Does anyone make a "genuine" Keith-type mould with flat-bottom lube grooves in the subject calibers? I located and bought a Lyman 410459, but it's my understanding that the lube grooves on this mould have been radiused from the get-go.

If this is an old subject, I apologize.....I have searched for info but have found little.

Very doubtful.
I am running a group buy on a Lee 6 cavity .413-260gr Keith mould, the lube grooves are not flat.
Good luck

From time to time a Saeco mold will show up in the .41 cal --just sold one-- when Dan at mountain mold goes back to making molds he could be a scourse- as can Veral Smith at LBT-- and then as Sean said they are currently running a Keith mold group buy that is pretty "Keith"
NEI also makes a Keith of 230 grain equal size bands .300 meplat- but does not havethe flat bottomed lube grooves- Ballista cast makes one also? I think? Blackwater bullets makes keith as does lead heads /// I have several articles by Keith that recomended the 410459 and a lot of the old 2400 -- so he did just hate it -- I have it shoots very well and took my first handguned deer with this bullet/// the real problem is just what is makesa Keith a Keith?

I guess I'm just being too picky. NEI has a couple of designs that "look" like the real thing, but I will probably just stick with my 410459 for the .41....don't know what I might do for .357.

Can I still get in on this group buy? I assume I will need to buy some Lee handles.

Check with Ballisti-Cast. They probably still make the H&G 258 220 gr 41 Mag Keith and other Keith designs.

I am fairly sure that current production Lyman 429421 has a flat bottomed
lube groove, and the image on their web page looks like the 358429 is also
currently cut with a flat bottomed lube groove.

My bet is a phone call to Lyman would get an answer. I have seen a relatively
new production 421429 in the orange plastic box, new, with the flat bottomed
groove, and one other member has also reported the same thing.

The .41 caliber SWC that Elmer Keith designed is the H&G #258, and it is a peach of a bullet (and is still available). The Saeco bullet is quite close and Elmer liked that one too.

I was lucky enough to get that Saeco from GLynn41, and it's a nice mold. Square lube groove and 3 large drive bands. Just as he warned, I do have to wiggle the handles a bit to get the mold halves apart, those edges are really square, but have 1000 or so bullets cast up with it, that should last me a while.

I also was able to pick up one of the group buy 358429 molds and it's a classic Keith, 3 equal size drive bands and large square lube groove.

If you'd like some samples of either just let me know.

probably the smallest group i have ever gotten at 100 yards was with the Lyman 410459 it may not be perfect Keith but it is normally a shooter-- Bob I knew you'd like the saeco as it is a really nice mold- I miss it already-- if you get anything with it let know how it does -- i think I am going to get dan to make me a self designed Keith of about 230 or so
Also the 358429 Bob mentioned is also a good shooter and very Keithy but a bit long for some guns

Here's a great article written by Glen Fryxell on 38/357 swc. Figure 17 shows a good picture.

I bought the Ballisticast mold for the H&G 51. I could send you some that are sized and lubed to .358 or unsized, unlubed if you want to pm me with an address. I've had several people offer me bullets and would like to pass on the favor.

Zipdop my thoughts are to go with Ballisti-Cast since they took over H&G. I have a custom matched pair of 10 cavity 38 Keith moulds also have 44-250 Keith moulds that are custom matched 8 cavity moulds but sadly my exwife got the 41 mould. All of these were from H&G. These are great moulds and as far as I know Mr. Keith approved of the H&G moulds.......Wes

thank you Bob but I would never do that as I would be afraid something would happen to it-- but thanks so much-- I still have my .410459 but if you kill something with it let me know
