This is in answer to Johnly s inquiry. But I decided to post it here. about the 35-30/30.. After many many rounds down range from this old 26 inch 1893, and with a lot of tinkerin'. I now kinda retired it and use a 32-40 for the Cowboy Silhouette game. In general the 35 bullets seem to be more wind sensitive....Then also the 35-30/30 improved did have a short neck (My opinion) It would not always hold the bullets when loading 5 at a time. So I got a (proper) sized drill. took the barel off and had a good tool and die man drill the neck a little deeper. It now holds bullets fine...But after all this I do get a better score it seems useing the old 32-40 26 inch 1893. And Johnly I don't have a record of who did the chamber before I moddified it. I do have a 38-55 that does just as good or bad as the 35..Take time to play Grandpa Dolan

Dan,

Thanks for the info.

For those wondering, I have a set of RCBS 35-30 Improved dies, and I've been looking for someone with a reamer to rechamber a barrel.

Forgive me for coming in late. But would that pretty much be a 357 Herret that is not shortened??

The 357 herret was designed to take advantage of short barrels, 10 inch to be specific. The 35-30 Imp would be more aplicable (sp.) to a rifle length barrel.

Pretty much. The 35/30-30 is basically a rimmed 35 Rem. ballistically. Just like the 30 Rem. is basically a rimless 30-30.
