452423 Softnose

After reading all the softnose posts I decided to try it myself today with the above mentioned mold. My mold is a Mountain Mold copy of this design that I bought because I'm crazy and want to take a hog with my duty .45. I won't use the softnose on the hogs but possibly on some whitetails that have been struck by cars as a test in semi-live game. I used the pie-plate porpane torch idea liosted in the posts and after some time had a bhn of 9.00 today I fired them into wet newsprint at a velocity of 880fps from my 5inch gun and all five test rounds expanded nicely to a min. dia of .75 these worked pretty well but more trials are needed. I've also got to try some of these with the hollowpointing tool buckshot made me.
