Santa bought me this mold for Xmas because i want to shoot some cast boolites in a Ruger No1 in 270 Win. It is Item# 2660642. I cast a bunch of boolites up last night. Other than the sprue plate not wanting to let got of the sprues I managed to make a bunch.

I lubed them up tonight sized at .278 and I was just barely sizing them. Has anyone ever used this boolite? If so are the two top grooves are they crimping or are they lube grooves? Is there some reason why this mold is shaped this way?

The very lower most groove (widest one) is the lube groove. The next groove up is a crimp groove and the top 2 being designed to provide maximum accuracy by fully supporting the nose.

I'm always looking for boolit options for my 270, so your thread caught my attention.

I didn't recognize the part number you posted so I did a search for the mold number (280642) and came up with these two threads. They may or may not be of interest to you. Either way, there doesn't seem to be much info on this boolit to date.

I'll be interested in hearing about your results.

I have one of these molds. It shoots pretty good, I have only done minimal testing. The only problem I have is it has to be seated deep. The lands on my 270 are just under the OD of the top half of the bullet, IE OD is to large on bullet for normal seating depth. I think I am going to try some other loads this weekend. so that should be fun.
