Having a tough time dealing with this

My oldest daughter has been missing since Saturday night and is presumed drowned in the Choctawhatchee river. Divers and boats have been searching the area, and as of dark tonight (Monday) no sign has been found.

Please lift up a prayer for her, and for us.

Unfortunately a lot of the assets had to pull out today and return to their home areas of responsibility, so tomorrow will be mostly boat search with another helo grid search.

Today volunteer divers from the FL DOT did another search of the area and a couple of spots that sonar had shown promising. Alas, they did not find our daughter.

Boats will continue searching during daylight for several more days, and of course the more eyes in the area the greater probability she will be found.

Your prayers and the comfort of His peace are keeping us through this agonizing time. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

We may not realize the "why", but His healing spirit will bring comfort.

Sadly, as the 9th day ends, we still have no closure.

Saturday night we held a prayer vigil at the sight. Over 100 people were there, braving the cold, lifting prayers and praise to Heaven. The outpouring of love and support for Cynthia was overwhelming.

We know that the river cannot hold her much longer. The authorities have assured us that resources will continue searching until she is found.

While hope fades for her to be alive, we know that she is with the Lord, and we rejoice in that knowledge.

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that my daughter's body was recovered today.

The uncertainty of her whereabouts has been grinding on us for the past 30 days, and we have been praying for an answer.

Praying that she be returned to us. She has.

I hope not one of this wonderful, prayerful family has to experience the pain I feel. It is indescribable.

Parents, hug your children and tell them how much you love them!

Thank you all for the prayers that have gone up from literally around the world. Please remember us as we begin the healing.

Even though I ache and grieve to the depths of my being and long for the comfort that only He can provide I will proclaim Praise to God.

A friend of mine lost his daughter due to an automobile accident. The friend told me he got some peace from the scripture " I have not seen the righteous forsaken". We do not always understand the mind of God but he is sovereign and all knowing. May His love fill the voids that were created by the loss of your daughter.

My friends, your prayers and compassion are truly a salve to my wounded heart. I can't thank you all enough.

We have a Celebration of Life for Cynthia planned for next Thursday, the 20th. That will allow time for our son to take emergency leave from Marine boot camp.

I would ask that those who can, make a donation in Cynthia Johnson's name (if you feel led) to one of the multitudes of volunteer search and rescue organizations near you. These people are amazing.

There were many, many individuals and organizations who unselfishly gave of their time and resources to help search for Cynthia.

One individual drove almost 400 miles to search with side scan sonar for 4 days, all at his own expense. There were at least a dozen divers who risked themselves in the cold 40 deg water with 0 to 3 in. visibility among snags and debris, or were standing by to dive on a promising "hit". The cadaver dogs and handlers made several trips of over 100 miles to assist, at just a phone call.

These are just three groups of volunteers, not to mention the official resources of seven counties and localities in Florida and Alabama.

None of these knew who we were. They just knew that someone needed help, so they came, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Please do not take your loved ones for granted.
