I think my toaster oven may have some heat regulation issues. I set the temperature at 400 and my timer for 20 minutes, this is the result at about 16 minutes. What's also funny is that is yellow powder coat, lol.
I just thought everyone would get a kick out of this result, I guess these could be flat shooting boolits, lol.

Is your oven a convection fan type???????

What I see in the picture is exactly what I got the 1st couple times with a cheep Goodwill $3 oven.
Hot spots over the elements and cold spots elsewhere. Not what we want!

Convection style oven provide an EVEN oven profile. Those cheap non-c ovens are fine for heating pizza and dishes because the BuLK of the contents acts like a heat regulator with the mass it has.

Our lil' boolits have no mass to speak of and the temp is extremely vulnerable to wide swings without the fan spreading the hot air around.

Also I use only 400F and 10 minutes (not 20 as on the bottle!) on HF powders to get perfect coats with the conv oven.

Not a fan type, just a regular old $5, yard sale toaster oven. All I have used it for so far was to put a little warmth into my boolits before tumble lubing, so warm setting for about 5 minutes or to warm my ingots before putting them in the pot to cast.
Maybe when I try it again I'll go with 10 minutes and leave the door open on the first notch which is about a 3/4" gap.

I use a little cheapo oven, but I put my casting thermometer in there til I get the temp right, no matter what the knob says.... then I put the tray of boolits in there. It works okay.

But I got my eye out for a good used convection oven of any size. I'm hitting the Thrift stores often and I got some ladies from work checking out the yard sales when they go.

Convection is the way. They do cost more.

I "talked" the wife out of hers and bought her a new $110 fancy one. The one we had in the kitchen was several years old but cost around $70 back then. The kids used it a lot to bake junk food in!

Now all are happy!

craig's list is where I got mine. Probably a $70 to $100 toaster oven for $25.

EDIT: I think I saw that at Walmart, that they Oster company made most of the new ones on the shelf, so I just went to Craig's List and did a search for Oster. easy peasy. :)

I have noticed with using harbor freight powder that 400 for 20 min is too long and too hot. if they don't melt like that the red ones will turn brown, I have had very good success with 350 degrees for 15 min.

I cook with a little cheapy. I set mine to 375-380, don't pre-heat, and set the timer for 12 minutes. So far they come out decent enough for shooting.

My cheapo (in post #5) was working fine for me. But this triples my output.
240 boolits every 20 mins, instead of 80. 8-)
