i've done several searches and didn't see very much on the site about these guns. i picked up one in my LGS yesterday and fondled it for a little while. i really liked it, but with the $789 price tag on it, just wondered if there were any issues with them. any experience? thanks

The trigger on my 77-357 sucks. That will be fixed shortly with a Timney sear and spring. I also had to do a bit of filing on the extractor to get it to eject all spent shells. Very light filing/Dremel tool. Good accuracy at 50 yds. 1.25inch groups with just about any handload. Amazing velocity! Almost 2000 fps with a 125 grain JHP

Vintage '98 77/44 SS in my mitts, nothing to complain about whatsoever. Been shooting paper patch in it since day one and it shines MOA at the 100 yard line.

My 77/357 was a challenge as it had almost 0.250" of freebore and a magazine that restricts COAL. My goal was to use a 360-180 WFNGC in this gun. The boolit has a small, full diameter front band that is increased in length the smaller you size the boolit. Based on what the barrel slugged, and the chamber would handle, I sized to 0.359. I was still well short of the rifling. I started with air colled 50/50, then progressed to water dropped, then finally WD 50/50 with copper/nickle babbit before accuracy got where I expected it to be. The final boolit was a very tough 32 bhn. Driven with a full case of Alliant 300 MP it will produce 5-shot, 100 yard groups of 1 1/4 to 1 3/8" consistently. Velocity is 1,700 fps.

Does anybody know what velocities the 77/44 will produce with boolits of 300 gr or less ?? Mike
