For anyone who is using cast boolits for their 50 BMG, would you please pass along what method you've used to size and lube. How as that worked out?

My setup:

513 850Gr. 4 cavity GC (BMG) -- Lyman#2 Alloy
NOE gas check seating tool (works great)
Freechex3 w/ .025 alum. coil

I've come across a few threads where folks described their intent but haven't seen much on the results.

Thanks,

I bought a .512 size die that fits into my Lyman 450. I can't remember if I got the die from Larry Blackmon out of Louisiana, but I am sure that I got the .50 cal gas checks from him. I rarely use the 450 any more so if I had to do it over again I would get a Lee push through die or have Buckshot, a member here, make one to your specs.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered a custom sizing die from Lee. I tried to lap out a .510" die but ended up taking off a little too much metal. I didn't realize I could just specify the diameter I wanted.

George Gompf made me a .591" push through sizer for my .58 Roberts minies for $25 a few months ago. Works like a champ. I'm sure he can make a little old .513" sizer no problem.

I currently use a .513" die for my Star sizer. Before that , I used , and sometimes still use a .513" die. IIRC, Buckshot made for me, for my 450. Had to modify the lyman 450 for the long boolit (cut a notch in the sizer body and shortened the ram), but it works well. Got my 50 cal checks thru Blammer. Might want to water drop your boolits.

rockrat,
Any details on that load would be appreciated. My first attempt at loads sized to .512 w/gc left a lot of leading in my Windrunner. I'm on the road right now, so no access to those notes.
