I had quite the afternoon. During the summer, I posted on a gun range that I was looking for used casting equipment. Right before Thanksgiving, I had a guy call me and tell me he had some H&G molds and some Saeco molds. I told him I would come and see what he had and if I could afford it, I would buy it all and try to sell what I didn't need. I had to fight traffic for 3 hours, but it was worth it.

Here's what I got:

2 68 plain based 6 cavity molds
1 280 wadcutter 6 cavity mold, looks like a 32
1 244 BB wadcutter 4 cavity looks like another 32
1 34 230 grain GI ball profile 4 cavity

All came with handles and all were made in Murphy Oregon. He has got 4 Saeco molds left. I ran out of money before he ran out of gear.

Do I need to preheat the mold on a hot plate to cut the cooled spue off the 2 that still have lead on the sprue plate?

Thanks,

Crabo

Nice work.

You are in for some high volume casting NOW. The pot sure will go down quick if you run them all at the same time.

That should work or set them on top of the pot while it heats up for a casting session :)

The #280 is a 32 S&W long about 105 gr.
The#244 should be a 38 special auto about 146 gr.

You have purchased some very nice moulds. Treat them well and they will serve you well and your grandchildren also and their's too.
I have never bent a sprue plate by cutting cold. But others may report differently. I use mostly 8 and 10 cavity H & G moulds and a few 4 holers.
What Saeco moulds does the gentelman have left? Wes
