For the Marlin. 405 grain cast that I bought. Not sure of the mold. 100 yards offhand. Was looking for deer after a heavy rain, this big tom was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bullet cut across his back and down he went. Minimal meat damage to boot. 9 inch beard on him.

That works! I have killed a couple of turkeys with a 520 grain cast bullet out of my 45-70 Sharps. It just drills through them with minimal meat damage and puts them on the ground. People think that it blows them up, but it doesn't. Congratulations.

I wish we could shoot them with a rifle here , seems everyone complains about them but the DNR we have a spring and fall season , you have to shoot hem with a shotgun and shot , and you get a week in the spring to do it and you can only shoot toms , if it rains all week or the leaves come in early your stuck with your week.

great if you want lots and lots of turkey , not as good if your getting tired of them

Good job! I heard the strangest thing down in Bee county (a little S and E of Bexar county) last Saturday; turkeys gobbling! Thot it was odd for this time of year, would have liked to drill one myself! More and more turkeys on the ranch I hunt, have you been seeing many, Richard?

I *was* one of those people. I saw a reference in a thread a while back and thought surely it was a joke and I was missing something. I see the error of my ways.

Richard- congrats! Is that a 450 or a 45-70? Love my 450, I'll have to give it a try on a turkey.
