357 Magnum that is

So far I have only had luck with the 358156 with full power load of 296.

Deer season closes this coming Sunday and then it is back on a quest for an accurate plinker and hunting load. Will try the 160 grain RNFP GB boolit for the plinker, 358429 and 358156 for hunting loads.

Anyone having luck with 358429 or am I limited to the shorter boolits?

Ranch Dog and LAR45 180-190 grain boolits both refuse to feed in 357 Mag cases. I had high hopes to use it/them for hunting boolit.

I doubt that 358429 is the "best" for a Rossi 92 but it will shoot reasonably well out of both my Rossi's in the 3-4 moa range at 100 yds for 10 shots. Here is my best 10 shot at 100 yds with my Rossi carbine. The only way 358429 will shoot accurately for me in the Rossi is maxed out with slow 820 or 296. Velocity is 1600+ fps and accuracy is more than adequate IMO for deer hunting. For pure accuracy the Lee 120 TC and Lee 125 RF are more accurate followed by the Lee 158TL SWC. They will all shoot more in the 2-3 moa range at 100 yds for me.

I think he'd have trouble getting that one to feed in his Rossi. They can be a might finicky.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with either of the two hunting bullets you mentioned. I have had good luck with the Lee 158 RNFP. I can even use them in 38spl cases as long as I keep the OAL long enough. (I don't have the measurement with me at work.) It took a little experimenting with length, but they feed just as reliably as the 357's do if long enough. I only load them for plinking.

I have two Model 92 Rossi's and both feed 358429 just fine taper crimped about halfway up the front drive band in mag brass. You can also roll crimp that bullet in .38 spl cases.
