Have you seen the Platte? Swimming is better described as wading.
The Platte in most of Nebraska is a mile wide and an inch deep.

That's why I went squirrel hunting yesterday and not today.

And yes, I've shot a lot of rough fish with pistols, mostly gar. One day I showed my brother my most recent purchase, a 4" Smith Model 10. Old school with the half moon front sight.

His response?

"Good gar gun."

Makes me yearn for early summer, shallow backwater Missouri sloughs full of warm stagnant water and gar. Lots of gar.

I might consider moving to western Nebraska, it's drier there and there are fewer politicians.
