I raided my fathers safe and came home with a blued heavy barreled Sako in 25-06. It had a nice piece of walnut furniture in a Monte Carlo variety with a wide forend. On the barrel it had Sako 25-06 on the top close to the receiver and on the left, Made in Finland. On the left of the receiver it has what looks like an AIII and a space then the serial number. Pictures to follow later tonight when I have a chance.

Trigger pull is an awesome 1# 10ozs on my Lyman digital trigger pull gauge with no creep and breaks like proverbial glass.

An AIII (A-3)

I feel kinda stupid now! I promise I tried to figure this out on my own but am not familiar with Sako.

I looked through the Sako Finland website before asking and didn't see the A-3 model listed. Is it a sub model of a bigger model arm? I'm trying to find out more info and possible value on this gun.

Will do. Didn't even know about that site. Can't wait to get this ole girl up and running and stretch her legs some after deer season.

If I remember correctly the AIII is the same action as the later AV (A-5) except they put a shroud around the rear of the bolt to streamline it's looks a little better. In a nutshell it was Sako's long action for quite a while. Most, including the one's I have are very accurate and are very well made. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
