What feeding/cycling issues does the 308 have in the AR platform using cast bullets?

Easy answer; it depends. Not trying to be a smartie pants, but there are so many variables that the question is difficult to answer. Much will depend on bullet length and profile - a wide, flat, meplat will possibly have difficulty feeding. Too long a boolit may not function well in the magazine. And of course, you have to either use a heavy enough powder charge to insure functioning, or you have a straight-pull, magazine fed, bolt action rifle on your hands.

I guess the question should have been..does the 308 have any particular problems over the 5.56 in reference to feeding?

Sorry

No different from any other rifle with the exception of primer seating & slam fires. Yes, it works very well. Same problem as 223, nose bump on mag feed - bent noses, setback, etc. Make sure the load is hot enough to lock back on the last round or you may have over-run problems. POF uses a gas/piston/rod system, don't know how well they work with cast.

In my DPMS LR-308 had to size the bore riding nose to under .300 Otherwise would not lock up all the time. Upon extraction of the failure, nose would be engraved with rifling. Have since fired a couple hundred rounds with no problem.
