I was processing some 30-30 brass last evening and ran into a new problem. The neck of the case seperated and stuck in the sizing die. Put some Kroil in it to soak and let it sit overnight. Thinking it over, came up with this. I got a tap that just fit the inside of the neck and ran it into it the length of the neck. Gave it a bit of a pull and out came the stuck neck. Did this while the die was in the press mounted upside down.

Thought I would share in case someone runs into this and needs an idea.

sometimes a the next size bigger cal cleaning brush will grab enough to pull the seperated neck also. The used to be shell extractos for 30 cal and 223 for pulling head seperations from chambers that would work here also. If the tap is correct size and available it will work very well also.

The cleaning brush was my first try. No good. My biggest worry was to not damage the die. Was going to tap and use bolt to remove case neck but got lucky and it came out using the tap. Keeping it on my work bench to remind me.
