Well, it's getting closer to cutting chips on my next silencer project. I'm going to try for as light as possible and going all titanium this time. Tube is 1.625 O.D. with a thin wall of .054 thick. I've sketched out a basic 60* cone for this and I'm curious on ya'lls thoughts.

The tube is Grade 9 and the baffles and end caps are Grade 5. I'm not clipping the cones as that has shown to adversely affect accuracy with the 300BLK.

Also, if you notice how the internal cone dimension turned out, I think I'll try and cheat with a 1.25 inch, 6 flute 60* counter sink to save some machining time.

It's worked well for others

Are you trying mainly for sub or super sonic loads or just the an all around design?

It'll be for subs and supers and may see occasional use on my 308 bolt and semi rifles. I've got another Form 1 in that should come back sometime mid summer. That one will be all stainless and intended for use with my FAL rifles. I'm also going to go with a clipped cone design similar to the Saker.

I've got a design more or less sketched out for a comp that will also be a quick attach mount. That mount will go on all my .30 cal rifles so that I can use the silencers on the whole lot. Gearnasher has been trying to get me to work on some sort of interrupted thread design that would be really fast. My problem is that I cannot determine exactly how much thread engagement I would have; plus I cannot figure out HOW to do that without a rotary table. Let me see if I can find that sketch and post it up.

You talking about the old 1/4 turn interrupted thread design of take down rifles - or the 1/2 turn one?

The 1/4 like the Browning 22 takedowns.

Here's where i'm going with the muzzle brake;

Be very careful taking suggestions from Gear. I did that and before I knew it I had a box of lube making stuff was shopping at auto parts stores, and had a bench covered in plastic bags of various lubes. I still have lubes I never shot!

I am envious of people who have the ability to plan something like this out and actually build it.

LOL! Yes I think we can all agree that Gear is an enabler, if not an instigator. (joking Gear)

Odd, my last post had a couple of jpg files that don't seem to be showing. I tried to edit and I see the links plain as day, but nothing is showing in the post. I'll try posting the jpgs again. One is my sketch and one is a solid works version that a friend did. The final product will be a combination of the two.

I'm thinking that the treads will be acme formed/sized as 10 TPI. BUT, I'm actually going to turn two threads at 5 TPI. This will give me the strength of 10 TPI but the quick twist of 5 TPI.

What, Meeeeeeeeeee??????? Instigator? Never. Heeee heee.

Brad, you ought to see the integrated stuff L1A1's come up with, super nice. He's been trying to get me addicted to HIS habit, but I'm resisting right now.

Taxes and a lathe? Like you need that. Besides, the divorce is gonna cost you too much!

I would love to have toys like that but I don't know where I would find the time.
