One of the all-time greats. Speaks to me more than It's a Wonderful Life and at least neck-and-neck with Miracle on 34th St.

They had a marathon run of A Christmas Story on one of the channels a few years back, and during the breaks had interviews with the cast and producers. They all knew they were trying their best, they thought it was a fun script and figured it would be a pretty good movie, but nobody had a clue about how enduring the film would be.

And all hail to Jean Shepherd, whose stories of his childhood in the Depression were morphed together to make the film. That's him in the front of the Santa line telling the kids to go to the back. I think he died soon after the film came out, very much too soon.

It goes right along with the old classics for me....a great movie. They don't show many of the old classics here anymore, we don't have cable etc.... and I'm one of the few who still say Merry Christmas.......but we can sure tout Kwanza.
