Scientists and "bug guys" have used this technique of "casting" ant colonies for years. The BIG ones in Africa are HUGE and totally amazing.

Nature is amazing. I do not like fire ants!

I have seen these things made before.
if you think I'm gonna go out and find a ant hill [no problem actually] then melt down a bunch of my alloy and pour it down that hole then dig a hole to the bottom of that just to get my lead back.

I've seen it done with termite mounds in Africa or Australia with cement. It was huge! IIRC, it was like 50' by 20' by 20', or some crazy size like that.

As he was pouring, I thought: What a huge waste of time and precious metal!

I changed my mind when he delivered the finished product!

That ain't a bad return on his investment even at the 2.7K level!!!

I saw that video the other day. I thought the end result was pretty cool. I did wonder how much metal he was gonna have to pour down the hole.
