At work I have the chance to get 5 large deep cycle batteries. Is it worth the time to get the lead out, and is it OK to use it to cast bollits. Let me know what ya think.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Batteries are extremely toxic. Your health and life is not worth the little bit of lead you will get.
If you have doubts about my warning do some research.

Take the batteries and sell them to the scrap buy and use the money to buy wheel weights. The lead you would get would more than likely kill you in the process and if you survived, the lead would not be what you could use anyway. like the guys said above DO NOT DO IT

Sell them for scrap and use the $$ to buy lead from them!

Life & Limb are worth more than a few $$ and a few # of stupid lead!

Do a search B4 asking MOST questions and you will normally find MANY answers!

Good things in this life do not come cheap. Buy your lead......sell your batteries.

I sold a dead car battery, group size 24, last year to a scrap yard for over $9. You ought to be able to get more than that for yours.

If you did try to melt down the batteries, you'd find there is very little lead metal in them; it's mostly lead oxide and lead sulfate.
