I know nickled doesn't last as long for the straight cases and reasons to use range from corrosion to smoother feeding. I've also seen it shorter lived in 38s. More brittle they say. So how does it fair being reformed ? Like to and AI from a standard 06' family case in unfired brass ? Does annealing help any?

It's much worse to reform it.

The nickel will crack and peel, and can scratch the inside of your dies, chamber etc...

It all depends on what your version of reformed means. I wont touch the nickel cases when I reform my brass for the simple reason it flakes off. I tried making 300 Blackout brass from nickel when I first got into it a couple of years ago.

Seems that nickel and brass move under stress at different stages, brass seems softer than nickel therefore the nickel gives out sooner. Although you get the "OH WOW" look about it, it's just not worth the effort in my mind.

And don't even think about annealing, it wont work, been there done that.

That is exactly what I thought . 280 Rem to 280AI is a long stretch. That .440-.460 (in mine) is a long stretch.

I've reformed nickle 30-06 cases to 8x57, no issues for about 20.
