I'm not seeing much in the way of chatter, alarm, outrage, or concern that the Doe Run lead smelting plant here in Missouri is being shut down by the EPA at the end of the year. Doe Run is the last lead plant in the U.S. That means that all our lead will now have to be imported! I contacted my representative in the U.S. House today and was told that they were getting some calls voicing concern about this. All the lead for our military ammo and ours now comes from overseas. Will somebody make me feel better and tell me that I am mistaken!

Lead is often found in conjunction with silver. With a lot of the mines being reopened in places like Nevada, there should be no lack of it.

much/most of our lead products have been imported from china/india for years.
we send them our scrap and they sell it back to us as a finished product.
most of the discussions center on cost increases.

I read an exclusive Internet article that stated the plant will be re-vamped for the manufacturing of loob grooves for the Asperly Aimless. However, the article went on to state that obtaining the patent rights and the installation of the very delicate, intricate and expensive machinery will likely delay the start-up for many years.
