An exceptionally heavy fog this morning moments before sunrise and a 6.5mm lens made what just might be my new favorite picture of all time.

There's just something peaceful about it.

Thanks! I set the camera down on the road between the double yellows and shot on a time exposure.
You've heard of accuracy by volume? Shoot enough bullets at a target and by odds alone you're bound to hit the bullseye. That's my approach to photography, shoot a hundred shots and keep the best one.

That is a great picture. You have a good eye for that sort of thing. You may already sell your photos, but if not I believe you could sell that one!

It doesn't look peaceful to me. I'm thinking of fires and broiling heat. I know that isn't what is represented but there is something to the light that makes me think the fog is smoke and it looks hot rather than cool.

There is something about the perspective that makes my eyes cross and I swear that little pink spot on the left looks like flesh left from a bad case of road rash ! :kidding:

That is a neat pic, Trey. I didn't get "peaceful" from it, though, my first impression was "oh, that's a really great pictSPLAT!!!!!!" as the truck zoomed by.....

I wasn't thinking of time exposure, good way to not get clobbered on a foggy morning.

LOL yeah I was a little concerned about traffic, but that early on this road I get maybe 2 or 3 cars in an hour. I sure wouldn't have seen them through all the fog, but I could hear them for sure.

It's interesting the different viewpoints y'all have. I would have never gotten the "feeling" of heat from it, but looking at it I can see how that could come across. I don't know if I could ever sell one of my shots, especially a favorite.

I like that people put up neat stuff here to look at, even if it isn't related to boolits. Had to come back for another look. Yep, still like it. In Texas it would be tough to find a road that straight that didn't have a fence down both sides.

Sounds like this photo would make a good Rorschach tool.

Beautiful composition.

Now why would they have a double solid line on such a long straight away?

Is it on a hill?

There's only one telephone pole in sight. The power of a 6.5mm lens too fool!

Good morning
One day driving here in Peru and would understand why the lines.
And as Ol' E-7 Sargent Ephanso Pope used to say "good tanking weather troop"! Everytime I see fog that rings through the memory cells.

Thank you all for the kind words. Aside from shooting sports and casting/handloading, one of my favorite pastimes is photography. My dad got me started years ago as a young child with a Brownie Hawkeye when he taught me how to develop my own film in his darkroom. I have often wondered how receptive he would be to digital photography.

Since the advent of digital cameras, film is cheap, so shoot a lot.
