View Full Version : I wish they'd make...

There's no doubt that there's a ton of diversity in the current firearms market. Even with all the variety on the shelves, every possibility still isn't covered. Some ideas live on but others fade away.

When Ruger made the Gunsite Scout, I wished they'd make it stainless, with a longer barrel, and in lefty. When that came true, I had to have one.

When I look at the Kel-Tec Sub 2000, the first thing that comes to mind is that I want one in .45acp that used Glock 21 mags. I'd also be interested in one that took Glock 29/20 mags for a 10mm carbine. I bet a .45acp Sub 2000 that took 1911 mags would fly off the shelves too. The problem is that the 9mm and .40 Sub 2000's seem to be selling as fast as they build them already, so I don't see where Kel-Tec would spend the time to expand the line at this time.

What do you guys wish that they'd build?

I like the I wish idea:

There are these Glock-ish carbines and made in 9/40/45 and 18" barrels...I'd love one in 10mm for a short hunting tumper. I've heard its been adressed and the reciever wont hold up.

Ruger American in 257 or 25-06, 260.

H&R BC to re-run 38-55 barrels in 28-33"

AR-15 upper in 250-3000

CZ 527 American 250-3000

Ruger Gunsite 20" fluted semi heavy barrel 338 Federal.

I wish Leupold would continue making quality FIXED POWER scopes in 2,3,4 and 6 power! I guess variable high power, grossly over-sized objectives, tactical looking, lighted reticle, ranging, mil dot/stadia lined, big knobbed scopes sell. :x

A .358 Winchester bolt action with a 1-14 or 1-16" twist. That is the only thing that kept me from buying one of those Rugers two summers ago from CDNN. Would prefer a wooden stock and blued finish.

A .22 Hornet made right, with 1-14 twist, a tight chamber, a recoil lug for bedding purposes, a throat that isn't overly long, a magazine that is long enough to match the throat when rounds are seated to engrave, and a safety that works in the right direction.

A scope reticle sort of like the Burris Ballistic Plex, but with the hashmarks going all the way down to the bottom of the field of view. Just do away with the duplex on all four sides, too. Perhaps every fifth hashmark could be longer. It would be a perfect long range plinker. Combined with a lazer rangefinder it would be deadly in the field at longer ranges, too. A perfect cast bullet scope.

And how about a stainless version with 1/2x28 threaded 18" barrel chambered in 358 WCF.

Sure. Why not? I'd like to see better tolerances on the rifle as well. The couple I have played with in gunstores had really sloppy bolts and tended to bind when cycling them. The cycling them smartly advice is for the birds as Winchester, FN, and Remington bolt actions work fine whether you cycle them like a weak kneed sissy or like Conan the Barbarian.

I would like to see 17" barrels for the NEF singleshots. I would also like to see a NEF barrel in 45 ACP. Id like to see ruger bring back the PC carbine but in 45. And i would love a Ruger hawkeye in 358 Norma Magnum.

Hopkins and Allen, Junior series, rifle actions or rifles. With interchangable barrels, in small pistol calibers. 32,38 S+W, 32/20, 25/20, 25 hornet, nothing magnumized. Beeches front or a Lyman globe like a 17axnb, standard barrel sight, ladder peep on the wrist. Just a great walking around, plinking at the range, close in varmints, rifle. Modern steel and process' make this possible.

Things do change, but when I talked to the Kel-tec folks directly a few years ago about it, they said they never would. I really hope they change their minds on that one.

I'd love for S&W to make a 616. That is a SS version of the old model 16.

Got a couple more to add to the list:

Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 22LR that used Ruger 10/22 mags
A nice compact bolt-action rifle in 6.8 SPC or 300 Blackout.

True. It would be kind of cool to make a necked up 308 to .323/8mm. That would be cool.

Any repeating rifle in 460 S&W,a 336 would have been really nice. The better yet would be if it would feed Schofields,Colts and Casuall. Being able to shoot 45 Cowboys and 410s a total bonus.

A DA revolver that any body could swap cyl on and be able to handle all of the cartridges in a caliber family,IE,9x17,19,21,23,38 auto/super,38 Win Mag,38/357 mag or 45 GAP/ACP/AR/Rowland/mag ,cowboy,Schofield/Colts/Casaull. Maybe the 40 family.

For me it would be Savage/Remington bolt action in 6.5 Grendel
Marlin to re-introduce 1894 in .41 magnum
Ruger 41/77 bolt action
More 1911's in 10MM
Savage/Remington bolt actions in 6.5x55SE
Ruger American in .222, .223, 260 Rem, and 6.5x55SE
Ruger Redhawk in .41 magnum
S&W model 25-5 in 45 colt 4" BBL again
I'll think of more later.

Try the Hi-Point carbine. They're inexpensive and they work. I shoot the heck out of my 9mm. Kind of ugly tho. The newer models are not as ugly as the original planet of the apes looking guns.

How about a slightly scaled down K-98 Mauser chambered in .223 or 7.62x39. I think the K-98 is the best all around bolt action rifle ever made to shoot with iron sights (love the tangent sights). How cool would it be to have it in .223 or 7.62x39?

I'd pick up a Hi Point carbine for sure if they made one that took Glock magazines.
