Left home at 3:45 am and traveled to the ancesteral farm. It was so quiet you could hear individual cottonwood leaves falling and hitting the limbs on the way down. Until the squirrels woke up. Shot at a doe around 7:45 and missed.

9 point came by an hour later. First shot at around 65 yards no effect. Second shot after grunting him in and stopping him at about 40 yards. He bedded and expired. Two holes in the lungs about 8 inches apart.

My wife helped me drag him about 200 yards. She has advanced degrees and is a professional. Some people at her office were shocked a few weeks ago that she got emerald earrings "because it's Tuesday" but she is one of the good ones.

Load was 429421 hp over 22 grns of IMR4227. Will try to post some pics tomorrow. 3:30 came real early.

I am having trouble with the size limit. I can try pics of last years doe and the pig (same Bisley) if I get it figured out.

If you want to download some FREE software from Microsoft to reduce your photo size, here is a link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Just scroll down to Image Resizer and download it.

He came off land that has been in my family for over 150 years. We are about an hour north of Pope County. There are lots of deer killed thate that make him look small; but he came off the family farm and we will eat well all winter.

When I read that peasents could be flogged or hanged for killining and eating one of the King's deer I really decided that the revolution was worth the effort.

My family has been instructed to scatter my ashes along a deer trail on that land when my time here is over.

I will try more pics soon.

The hog is from Missouri. A pay to "hunt" place that advertised fair chase spot and stalk. While the hog was born where I shot her and not trucked in, the whole experience was not a hunt in my book. The people were nice and the food good but I felt it was less than hunting.

That said, there was a quadraplegic who shot an elk and a ram with a rifle mounted on his wheel chair that he fired with a blow tube and a man in his late 70's or early 80's with health problems who got to realize a lifetime dream and shoot an elk. It is not for me to say if they hunted or not but I have no real problems with them getting their animals the way they did.

I do not feel that I really hunted though. I guess that ultimately each must decide such things on their own. It was ok once for me but I won't be doing it again.
