where can i get a metal thermator for casting?

On the cheap, find an old bbq grill and salvage the thermometer from the lid. This one is cheap, but is short, so you have to make a bracket to get it into your melt.

Otherwise, keep looking in the selling section. They come up from time to time.

You need a TelTrue model LT225R (200 - 1000 degree). Had mine for years.

I just saw one advertised at http://www.bbqfans.com for $18.95 + $5 shipping.

I happen to have a thermocouple/readout that I used in part of my heat treating. I just use it..I think it was about $40 total with 2000° thermocouple.

Elsewhere in the archives, someone suggested a b-b-q thermometer from one of the hardware chains. I got one for $10 more or less and it does what I need

I believe I bought mine from one of our vendors, Swede Nelson, of NOE moulds.
