If it's a C&R class firearm, I might be able to help you.

Hey Waksupi - If you can jazz up an old Stevens 414 Armory, I have a job for you after Xmas. I'd like to put fancier wood on it with a high rollover comb for scope use...

If he can do it...send it to Ric. The only other stock maker I know who makes them for me ( a good friend and gunmaker) is easily backed up 2 years....mostly because of me...lol. Things ever get turned around here I want Ric to do me a couple Flintlocks. He dos exceptional work.

This is my work, but I know there is better out there. This is a remington 700 long action. Everything you see here was done by me. The checkering patterns were designed by me, and hand cut by me. The checkering on the grip is complete wraparound.
I started with a stock blank from Richards Microfit, but it was heavily modified to fit my clients LOP and cheek weld.

Have you had any problems with Richards?

Just a few minor misunderstandings, and they were always willing to make it right. They are the best deal going for gunsmiths who don't have a local source. I am building my own gunstock duplicator because I have a local source for fine walnut, but I guarantee I will will still do business with Richards on occasion.
I was pretty pleased with how this one came out. The only complaints I had was that they installed their pink rosewood tips when I had told them not to (no problem, I was going to cut them off anyway), there was a small knot beside the magazine well (mostly covered by the magazine when installed), and there was a soft spot in the wood on the front/right side of the pistol grip that the checkering tools dug into a little too freely.
Like I said, not too bad for the price. I'd be a lot more torn up about it if I had paid $1500 for that blank, but my client was pleased with the results.

I tried them years ago. Took 6 months to get a stock I had ordered. I know things happen sometimes. Anyhow, I was pleased with the stock when I finally did get it. In fact, it was a grade or two higher than I had actually ordered. I still had a pulse at the end, so it didn't kill me. I have a really sweet shooting Garand that is just begging for a highly figured piece of French Walnut, since it served in my Granddaddy's hands on D-Day when he carried it ashore on Omaha Beach. He carried that piece through the war until Hitler surrendered, then hung on to it during his state side duties until he finally retired. The Army sold him the thing, or some such deal, I was never really sure how he managed to take it home. But I wound up with it. The stock has some really cool character but is starting to split and I want to retire it and restock. Richards is the best deal going for highly figured stuff.
