Did Herter's ever offer their J9's (or U9's) in 8MM Rem Magnum?

I have one (with a really nice stock) but have wondered whether it was a re-barrel, or if it was a stock offering. Wiki says the cartridge was introduced in 1978, and I'm not sure Herter's was still in business by then.

Don't have a Herter's catalog to check either.

Any clue?

I'm pretty sure Herters was out of business before the 8mm Mag. was brought out.

I see a lot of them on GB in 7mm Magnum, so perhaps it is a re-barrel.

Yep, I remember ordering a doz. of their decoys in 1979, so yes Herters was still in business when the 8mm Rem Mag was interduced.

Herters was a shell of the former company in the late 70's. IIRC, they did not make or import firearms much after the 68 GCA.
