Sorry about the house, and lucky you on getting out of this mess (CA). I hope to be in that same area in a few years. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about the financial aspect facilitating your move, but congratulations on getting out of Kalifornia.

I'm sorry to hear about your family situation, and the loss of the house, but I'm glad you're moving out of Kalifornia. I can't even fathom why anyone would want to live there, but then again, everyone's situation is different. I can't see moving out of Michigan. simple reason, my grandkids. Both my wife and I just adore them, and they in turn return their love in many ways.

Sorry to hear that you have to leave because you are can't keep your house. I visited the Bay area and Yosemite this summer and think the state is beautiful but very expensive. Everything I read about the politics just makes me want to shake my head.

Sad about the family & house but still nice to see another one joining the masses that are fleeing the socialist utopia. Welcome to America.

Hope to join you in four years. You could put you house in short sale or at least rent it out until the bank forecloses.

Sorry to hear about your situation, have you explored renting it out, short sale etc?
Enjoy your freedom in Nevada - go out and shoot a machine gun or something to celebrate being out of CA

yes renting is out of the ? wouldnt touch the payment of 2500 month ....short sale ,or forclosure both ruin your credit the same...., ,bought the house when it was hi hi hi , then tore it down ,termite damage, contractor just put the screw to us , son in laws uncle, so couldnt sue him ... its worth @300,000 i owe 390.000 so i come up short anyhoo.. but i will be happy and free , i am a able bodied 59 year old ...so i can survive , but the state of nevada , cool place ,good history!! even has silver gold and opal in the area , im a prospector too...if they only had a lead mine ....[smilie=w:
oh yes moved to california 20 years ago for my wife , her family lives here , dont know why they take advantage of her good nature just a 110 mile move to carson but it should make all the difference

Welcome to the Silver state ! CC has a great shooting range , its a city park . No really it is. I'm just about 140 road miles south of you, w/a weeks notice I can whip up a shooting fix.

Actually Galina is only about 30 mi away north 40 mi east if you can get into the river you should be able to score murcury. Mineral county is so named because the minerals were just laying on top and mostly run pretty shallow.there's 7 working mines close and all of the canyons and washes that are free and open for panning and shaking.

Welcome to Nevada!!!

Where is the Carson range? I know about the Douglas county and Reno ranges, but not the Carson range.

Pull up a map of Carson on Google maps , it will lable the site.
Going out of Carson on 50 , going out to the dump on your way to Mound House ...turn right on Flint to the dump ,if you see Pick and Pull , you have gone to far, about quarter mile in , You will see a road on your right before you get to the gates to the dump , follow the road for quite a ways back in ,stay on it , it will take you right to it.
You will wind up in the hills just above the Carson River just above the old Brunswick mill site(now a matierials site) and well south of the Carson dump.
Looking at a Google map , it is a long twisty road going south of the dump site it self.
would post a link to the map but having difficulty at the moment.

And all most forgot .... Welcome to Nevada there Bob !!! , . where you can pull a trigger with out having to look over your shoulder ....

Wish I could make the move too. Wife wants to stay close the grandkids and I can't afford the move. I am getting real fed up with all the libs in this state trying to take away all my rights. Leadfee bullets, whoever heard of such a thing? There goes my squirrel and dove hunting. Can't afford $3 bullets and will not shoot steel through my shotguns.

I thought nevada was a shooting range. lol

I worked out of Wells a couple of summers. We set up and used an old gravel pit RIGHT behind the prison a few miles east of town on I80. The prison officials never even came to have a look see.

Nevada is a shooting range, but sometimes it's nice to go to a 'Real' range with tables, a roof, and a porta potty.

Love life, They probably have some kind of proper range at wells. (don't know) The one we set up in the pit worked great, because we could shoot before and after work, well actually while at work too, as long as we let the boss waste some ammo on a slow day. lol

Welcome to Nevada.

Ever since we immigrated from the Canadian Arctic back in '97, I've considered myself VERY fortunate to have located my new employment at that time in northern Nevada.

Beyond the 'conventional' outsider's view of this State as "whores and poker!", we find it to be much freer in all ways than the country we left behind, and for a gunowner who CARES about the right and privilege of the activity. it's a paradise.

Many Cast Boolits members have visited our range here in Winnemucca, and most had good things to say about it. It's about a three-hour drive from Carson City, so a bit of a haul for a one-day visit. However, a weekend could be a fun time, especially if we could gather a few more members for a get-together.

The annual Nevada Cast Bullet Shoot has been held here since 2001, and fine friendships and good times have resulted.

Nevada is awesome. Ride around all day with an AR with 30 rd magazine inserted with no worries. Totally legal as long as no round is in the chamber. Shotguns can have the tube full. No permits needed!!

Open carry if you want to. I live in rural Nevada and nobody bats an eye when I stop in for breakfast-ish after a hunt and I still have my commander on my hip.

Just a great state. I have to leave it for a few years, but ya'll keep the state great until I get back!!

Guns and Arrows in Gardnerville have good prices on guns. Nice people to. Their ammo is steep, but it always has been. Kind of odd, but oh well.

Bullseye Nevada (next to Hamdogs) is a good shop. Their prices are good and they are good people.

We need to have a Northern Nevada get together in the Carson City area. It would be fun.

just a random word of encouragement here.

We left California 2 1/2 years ago. always afraid of lack of work or difficulty adjusting.

We chose Eastern Washington, but another relative chose Northern Nevada and a few friends live in Carson City.

We waited way to long!

Great people, great laws, low cost of living, plenty of work.

I wish we'd moved ten years ago.

Screw oppressive mortgages, surly police(I'm former LEO), elitist neighbors, and gang members.

Plus you can dip on over to the California side on the weekends. Mono County, CA is a whole other world.

In Bridgeport, Ca, (mono county) 1 1/2 hrs south of Carson we just opened our new rifle and pistol range. 5 station pistol out to 30 yds and rifle at 50-75-100-200-300 yds complete with 8 concrete shooting benches. Stop by and check it out. Welcome to Gods country.

Congrats on the move!

We left almost 17 years ago. Our landlord evicted us from our appartment, they were remodelling their home and needed a place to stay so figured they'd evict the young family with a newborn baby and 2 y/o. everyplace we looked at renting had about 30-40 people applying and of course nobody wanted to rent to a young family. Through God's grace we were able to pack up our meager belongings and head North. I haven't missed California for a second.

I'm sure in time you'll be able to find a better job, and even if the pay is low, the cost of living is lower, and more importantly freedom is priceless. I didn't realize how opressed I was in California until I moved out.

Welcome to the crowd here mwest .....and you are right , the entire east face of the the sierras is God's country , enjoyed Bridgeport when ever I went thru, also exploring around the country there above the lakes , so beautiful to take in.
The ghost town of Bodie was fun to see and take in the history , so much of these mountains to enjoy.
Except when I had to buy some gas there .... just once , after that , I made sure I had enough to get down to Bishop !.
Welcome again .....

Spent some amount of leisure time in C.C. Yep, used to just drive onto BLM land just minutes out of town and start shootin' wherever we pleased. Try THAT in CA.

A nice little town, just close to Reno, Tahoe, Virginia City, Truckee, reservoirs, skiing, boating, fishing, hunting and so on. Just remember, they don't build casinos on winners, eh? he he.

I stayed in Carson City when I attended the wedding of a good friend at Lake Tahoe. I loved the city and virtually everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful. I wish I had more time on the Sat I arrived to explore the two gunshops I saw. Out West Guns (?) and I cannot recall the other one. Extreme bullets is located there as well. Good prices on component bullets if you can't cast your own for a while. Check them out for specials or deals on particular "runs" of bullets.

We do that all the time in California, it's very popular. My BIL says he can't do it in Texas, though. Imagine that. I would still rather be in Nevada.
