Recently picked up my first centerfire bolt gun. It's a Remington 700 VLS model chambered in 308 Win. For optics it has a Burris Signature 4x16 scope with Twilight feature. Since I do more rifle shooting at my in-laws (over 100 miles away), I picked up a Pelican 1750 case so I can transport it with another rifle, and not have to worry about it or the scope being damaged and can just put it in the bed of my truck. Trying to decide now if I want to get a bi-pod or front rest for it. We usually just shoot off of a folding table.

Nice rifle there! I know you will enjoy it. I have it's twin chambered in 7-08 Remington. It is very accurate! My vote goes for a bipod for it's portability. I like the Harris BR model I think it's called (6 to 9 inch) for bench work.
Good Luck with your new rifle,
Rick

Thanks Rick. I am hoping the weight of the bull barrel will help to reduce recoil. Have some Nosler 168gr. competition bullets to fire through it. On your Harris Bi-pod did you get it with or without the swivel? Only concern with the bipod would be the feet sliding on the folding table we use.

Going to stop by Wally World tonight to pick up an inexpensive electric knife to cut the foam in my Pelican case. That ought to be an adventure in itself.
