I have about 75 pounds of linotype (with more on the way) and about 500 pounds of pure lead. I want to make 44 Special and 45 ACP "boollits" that will not exceed 1000 fps (typically ~850 fps). What's the best mixture to take advantage of my in-stock materials?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would probably start with about a 5 to 1 ratio (5 parts lead-1 part linotype). This will give you about 2% antimony and about 2/3% tin). Should be a pretty good alloy for your needs. Add a little tin (which you didn't mention you had) if you have any problems with the bullets filling out properly.
Lets see what others have to say,

3/1 or 4/1 Pure / Lino

.44 special and .45 acp will both do fine with just about any lead alloy. Use your lead and add the Lino sparingly, just enough to get it cast well. Over time the lino will be harder to find than scrap lead or WW metal. Not much typesetting going on anymore.

I, too, would go about 5 or 6 to 1 Lino. Don't need much for 44 SPL or 45ACP. Two most fine calibers. Mike

Plus 1 for the above. If some pure Sn were available I would do 5-1 and add 1% Sn...

Poke around and you will find a wealth of info on lead alloy composition and with your stash you'll be able to do pretty much what you need to do.

Lino is already 4+% tin.

If you dilute it 4/1 you still have 1% tin. That is plenty of tin.
don't waste your money adding tin.
