Get out of the truck, look down, and there is a shiny new wheel weight. Nice big juicy one too.

Bend down pick it up and it has a dang Zn on it.

Is that a real pisser or what?

I'll tell ya what's a real whizzer- back in the early & mid 70's I had a wholesale fishing sinker biz. Nothing huge mind you, but our main source of lead was WW that we got very, very cheap and often free just to haul off. 55 gal drums of WWs. Sold those bulk sinkers in the .40 to .60 per lb range and made decent $$. Just for the heck of it (and morbid curiosity) I dug out some old records to see about how much I had sold in those years. In the 4yr span I looked at, we smelted, cast & sold a bit over 500K lbs of primarily WW metal. How I wish I had all that material on hand now.[smilie=b:

Push come to shove cast it in a iron mold.

I guess I shouldn't gloat,, but last night, at an auction, I bought 80 lbs of WW lead already cast into one lb bars, (Lyman mold) for the grand sum of $47.
But, I will say I feel your pain. Those zinc weights are enough to pizz off all us serious casters!

I think it may have have been a trap to get you to lead them to your source of lead. I think they may be heartless s o b s to bate you with Zink. watch your back stop.

I stoped by a little mom and pop tire shop the other day and got a small trash can full of ww's for free. Mostly stick ons.

By volume I have about equal amounts of al, iron,zn,lead ww and stick on's. out of a 5 gal can that I have been separating by hand.I use to get just a hand full of al,zn and fe.The way I see it this has been going on for a good while.
