I need help,
My daughter's boyfriend has a CVA Hawken that I had to redo. The only problem is that I need to find sights, both front and rear for it. Does anyone have a source for these items. It is the dovetail type sights.

I just purchased some V-Peep sights http://www.rmcsports.com/ml230.jpg.
They can be found here http://rmcsports.com/catalog.htm.
They were easy to mount using the existing dove tail cuts.
Will see how they work next time I get to a range.
Track Wolf link mentioned by Mooman has a large selection, most of which are all steel.
Dixie didn't carry any that would fit the existing dove tail cutouts form my barrel, and I wanted something that would work for older eyes and was adjustable in windage and elevation.

Hi Topper, looks like a neat little sight. Don't forget to let us have some idea how they worked for you.

Aloha... :drinks:

Will do.
Weekends are kinda booked right now, a very nice lady is letting thin out the deer population :-)

Here they are mounted.
Not the greatest photos, consolidated to save space.
Note the early moring pic taken without flash, sun barely up.

Will see if I can test sometime next week.
Hope they hold up as good as they look;-)

Well, I finally got to the range and sighted in with the new sights.
Finally, no more filing down of the front sight to get POI raised:-)
Also windage adjustment didn't take a lot of shots (probably a little luck was involved here).
Sights are not the best for target, but I can see the front sight clearly, quickly, and in low light (range has lighting, got to shot some after sunset).
Sighted in at 50yds, shooting an average of two inch groups.

Now I have a new question.
Sight is adjusted to dead center @ 50 yds.
At 100 yds, point of impact is at least 11" to the left.
Does wind have that much effect on front stuffers?

Wind can have a great effect on muzzleloaders, and if you were shooting a muzzle velocity of 1300 fps, a 10 knot wind would move the poi 9" or more. So... if you were a little less than 1300 fps, you easily could be 11".

Not as nice as the site on this thread, but didn't cost me anything!
