It always amazes me that someone will pay 2-3 times the new retail price for something at auction. I think P.T. Barnum may be on to something.

Auction fever, it happens.
Check the bid history. All newbies after $25.

I've sold on auctions before and this probably will end up not being paid for.

One of the bidders went by jeanluc*. If he's bidding from France, mid-40s in US dollars might look like quite a bargain in Euros for something he may not be able to mailorder and can't get locally.

Looks like a couple of Low Transaction Number bidders slugging it out for that one. Ranch Dog is probably right, it might not ever see payment. This kind of stuff happens all the time on ebay.

I checked the profiles of the two bidders that are beating up on each other.

The 'jeauluc' bidder IS from France, and is probably bidding according to the price of that mould if found there.

The other idio...err...bidder's profile shows him to be in the US, and includes a picture of himself. It depicts a shirtless bowhunter perched in some rocks, with long hair and a heavy mustache. A regular Rambo type if ever I saw one.

I hesitate to say why he has run the price so high, but I think I know what he would say if asked.

I'm awfully tempted to e-mail that pair of nitwits to see if either would be interested in a (slightly) used double-cavity mould for the Lyman 452374 (225gr "GI Ball" profile). I've got one that I'd be willing to part with for...oh, let's say $75 or $80 plus actual shipping cost...and I'd even toss in a set of "vintage" handles. A deal like that would pay for a new DC Lyman mould PLUS a Lee .45 ACP RN to replace the one I sold.

I have a few Lee moulds I would sell for half that ones I have got at gunshows for $3-$5 over the years. Recon I need to get all I see there and run them on e-bay! Hum!

I 'messaged' jeanluc with a link to the Midsouth page where that mould is listed for 17 bucks.
