I have never been very pleased with this boolit in the HP mode with my 30-06. I can plug the hole and get good results. With the HP I can't do much better than 2" groups at 100 yds with any consistency. I have a 311291 that shoots sub MOA in this rifle. Seems like I have read here sometime ago about the Lyman pin being too long. Any ideas on how long it should be. Mine does seem very long. Hoping somebody has had similar problems and found the answer.

Thanks,,,Floyd

It could also be that your hollowpoint pin isn't perfectly centered, throwing the bullet off balance a mite.

I long ago shortened the HP pin on my 311041HP to give a 3/16" deep HP. With a softer alloy that gives all the expansion desired.

Thanks Larry,

I had been searching most of the nite for the thread describing this and just found one where you had described doing this before. If things don't improve by the time I use up my existing stash of cast boolits I'll shorten my pin this winter and give it another try.

Thanks guys....Floyd
