Ok guys here's my thing . Ive had pretty good success in little cases w/100% loads in 7.62x39 , 7mmRWH,even 308. My 06's have been a challenge however but only because they only have the head stamp in common. IMR 4350 has served for reasonable success in most cases(guns and cartridges) but I now have a 280 Ackley to work up. Past results would tend to have me thinking that the books suggest 31-3200 fps w/copper clads will approach 3500 PP'd , w/130's it seems like I just stared slack jawed at the idea that I could be knocking on 4Ks door. Mild whip lash back to reality 1st I don't really NEED 4000fps for anything w/130gr bullet except maybe to prove the chrony will read that high and to say I got there w/o the boolit vaporizing. I have correct sizers for the bbland a 27-130 FP RCBS as well as a NOE 286-150 (Hunter) and a couple of boxes of Green bar paper. I was thinking 1of 4831s might be a good choice for that caverness case but then a slower powder might be better even in the 06's since its getting close to time to start the powder hunt again I thought I see what was working for full bore loads in ''magnum''sized cases for others.

I know that unless I just get plain ol' dumb lucky exceeding 3k fps is currently beyond my skill set let alone 4000.

Got any WC860 or one of those other really slow ball powders? That'd be my first choice to start with.

I'll look for something on that order. Thanks.

I have always gotten the best accuracy with a 100%+ load density. For what you are trying slower will be better.

I came across some W780 which I bought. I think it's still too fast for my purposes, that being low pressure with a full case. Still, it does burn OK with less than a full case plus filler. I haven't experimented with fillers and slower powders enough to be able to make any suggestions. The filler I used was wheat germ which is quite bulky and light and compresses quite a bit. Something like that might be a way around the problem, allowing 4350 to be used.
