OK, trying out the picture thing. I'm using Photobucket for my pictures. I went to the reply, clicked on URL, pasted the line, and clicked URL again to close the data. Let's see if it works!

Rick- I'm sure my smokepole will fit that fine looking sock better than yours, you should send it to me.

I think Ric would, provided you paid his rate for the sock and that gorgeous bead work. BTW, that is a very fancy outfit, how much time does it take to do a rifle cover like that?

waksupi
03-18-2005, 11:44 AM
Yep, I could send it along, but the shipping is pretty high. It takes me a couple weeks to do one, wheter it is the Metis style like I'm holding, or one of the Plains type.

vmt_hntr- It would take two of these southern indiana deer to make a sock.

My my, go off to the twilight work zone for a week or two and when you come back you may have to quickly plunk down some money for a custom mold (just as the whistle blows) and then when you come back the next week you may have to register on a brand new home page.

I always knew this was an active group, but never got really the real feal for just how active until I unfortunately became a weekly "snap-shotter".

Yah..Indiana deer in certain places are small. Had a few buddies give me their deer hides, so collected quite a few. Besides, fur buyer only payin' 5 bucks a hide, no matter what the size...collected 14 or so before I shipped them off to the tanner. Had the wolf and I jackets made, and rest is for projects....turned out real good , me thinks.

Oh, I see where the orange font comes from. When you search a topic and go into the forum subject everything is highlighted as orange.. That is bright :D

Hey, To avoid that orange highlighting You need to put * or is it asterix to the "Search for Author" field; that's the lower one in the top "Search Query" section.

After one aborted effort, I made it here without a problem. When does this board become primary and aimoo is taken off life support?

Wow, you really found piece of history! When you dug this up, did you get the big red warning sign that read: "You have now reached the end of the forum archives. You have seen everything there is to see here. Please go back now." :kidding:.

Ken, when you first posted this, did you have any idea 15K+ people would call it home in just five years? You've created a monster! [smilie=l:

If you check ,we are well over 16,000!
Between this, and the Aimoo board, there is a lot of info. At one time, there was a link to the old Shooters.com cast bullet forum too, but I don't know if it can be pulled up anymore. I downloaded that years ago! I wish there was a way to put all that linked in here, or merged. There was a lot of good info most people here have never seen, or even thought of!

Is all the data from the old boards really gone? Perhaps it could be reformatted and archived here or maybe at Castpics.net? IIRC Ken posted an Aimoo link in Shooters.com a few months ago, but I didn't check it out at the time.

One of the reasons we left aimoo was the recalcitrant and un-helpful management of the company, and the ever increasing costs,, it got to be nearly a nickle for every post made and was driving the costs into the stratosphere.
Unfotunately they will not let go of the database and even lost a few thousand posts when they did an "upgrade", the page is still "there" almost but unless someone was to copy each and every thread there is no way to retrieve it and just opening the thread costs because they bill by the page view. There is still a residual amount in the "bank" that I renew the archive every 6 months,, but it would evaporate quick if it was viewed a thousandth of the activity here.

Back when I started the board I nearly counted every 50 members,, then every hundred,, then 500,, then 1,000. Now we passed 16,00 and it barely registered, the next notch is 20,000.

No,, I never imagined the numbers, I am still just the same redneck looking to get info and pass it along, but now it's just more time consuming. Not that that is a bad thing!

What a piece of history.

Thanks for providing the site, and thanks to all the members for being a
really nice bunch of folks. An occasional knucklehead leaks thru, but it
seems like we change them into nice folks by our friendliness.
