Stopped in to the LGS today to get some prices on two rifles. I am looking for a lefty Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 7mm-08, and I was looking for a price on a Ruger American compact in 7mm-08 for my wife as she is sharing my son's gun, which is the Ruger M77 Mark II compact in 7mm-08. As the owner was looking up the price for the Hawkeye, he told me that he had the compact American in 7mm-08 in stock. Picked it up and after holding it for all of two minutes, told them to ring it up. Can't believe this guy keeps doing this to me.

Can't wait to get it to the range. Going to put a Burris Fullfield II 3X9X40 on it and hopefully this drives tacks like my son's does. Not a bad little gun for $339.00. If they made it in lefty I might have left with one too, but I'm still partial to blued with wood.

Wife doesn't even know I bought it for her yet. We'll see what happens in about another half hour when she gets home.

Well, the first thing she said when she walked through the door was "What did you buy now?". When I told her it was for her she got all excited and likes it a lot. Nice to have a wife who gets excited about guns as much as you do.

Is she enjoys trips to the range she will take pride and joy in shooting something that she can actually call her own.

That looks like a pretty thick barrel. What is the diameter?

Adjustable trigger from 3 to 5 pounds, American made, and it's a Ruger. Her's is a 7mm-08. Lots of good reviews.

The present of a firearm to my wife is a no brainer, pistol rifle or shotgun,I get a big smile and a hug. Then she asks "Do we have ammo for it?"
Of course I have bought it if it was not one "WE" already have. For a non gun person before we got hitched, she has made remarkable progress ,
IMHO.

My wife was also an non firearm peraon before we met and now not only does she love shooting but she is a better shot with a pistol than I am.

Seems like a lot of gun for the money. I was looking at the reviews the other night and there were very good write ups about them. The barrel is 18" and the overall length is 36.75". Makes for a nice little brush gun for me if she's not around.

That's funny, the gift I gave my wife before this one was a Cub Cadet weed wacker!

Definitely will let you guys know. I need to call Burris in the morning and order up the scope and rings with the LE discount. I'll have to try to get them to expedite the shipping.

My better half is was born and raised in Japan and had never even seen a gun up close until we met. Because of long work hours and commuting I had not kept up with my shooting for quite a few years. After 10 years of marriage I finally got her to the range; she loved it. Second trip to the range she was shooting 22s and 218 bee. When I let her shoot the '92 44-40 she said, "this is more like it". Now the 44-40 is too tame for her. Next trip maybe I'll set her up with the '86 40-65 loaded with some holy black.

My wife wasn't around guns before she was with me. She went through the hunter safety course with my son, she was the only one in the class to score 100 on her test, and now she goes out more than I do. She hasn't shot a deer yet, but being in Vermont its not like she gets many chances. Might have to take a family trip down to PA and shoot some. I bought her a shotgun earlier in the year so she can waterfowl hunt with me. Borrowed a gun last year for ducks and geese and she had a blast because she was able to shoot her gun.

My gun guy did that to me. Handed me a Savage Axis 223. The weight was perfect for me and it fit well. Bought it on the spot. Next trip in he handed me a Chinese Type 53 knowing I like Mosin Nagants, clean bore, metal looks new so I bought it lol
