I finally got a chance to shoot some of the cast loads for the .350GP's earlier this week. Not sure I will ever shoot J-words thru these rifles again. The attached pic shows the results of the FIRST load worked up at the low end. The pic shows a (10) shot group! I was shooting the Accurate 360-280B(Lyman 358009 clone), cast @ 14bhn, from a Mauser 98 with a 26",1:14 twist Shilen barrel. Recoil was very mild and I look forward to chronographing more loads. As a side note, I fireformed another (40) .350GP cases with cast 210's and 42gr/IMR4064 from a Ruger 77 with a 22"bbl. In all, I shot (60) rounds, all with the Hornady gas checks seated below the shoulder. Grease grooves were contained within the neck. I checked the barrel for a shucked gas check after every shot....none. What a blast!

Looks great. Are there any other .350GP rifles out there or is your's the only one - on the 8x57R case I found out from this thread:

How does you Mauser 98 feed those blunt faced cast bullets? I was using a 250grain in 35 Whelen but can't get the Mauser to feed more than one from the magazine. I have been playing with the RCBS 200grain which does allow you to feed from three in the magazine as it is a bit more pointed. Jacketed spire points feed fine.

SWV,

The GP series are my own homebrew. Been working up loads for years with jacketed(sorry for the language), but am having a ball now with cast. I ordered an Accurate 3-cavity, cut with 360-210B, 360-250A the 360-280B. I fireformed the 210's(with a .200" metplat) from the Ruger77 with no issues whatsoever. The 250's(.255" metplat) from the mauser did not feed as well. With a little rail work, I think they will feed just fine. If someone can tell me how to upload an Excel file, I can add a link to my load data for the entire series as chrono'd to date.

Just curious SHUETZENBOOMER, is that Simple Lube in the grooves? Good shooting by the way, guess that answers how that boolit can shoot!

It's my own home brew. I call it MuttLube for a good reason! Do a search and you will see why. So far it works great in everything I have tried it on from .22hornet to .460Rowland. I made about 6pounds which should outlast me!

I'm going to do a similar thing and order a 3 different cavity mold from Accurate for my next purchase...Excellent idea! I'll get the 210 and 280 grainer that you got and will tweak another design (36-230D) to get a 250. I already have a 230D and that shoots great.

I'll post some pix tomorrow showing the results of weekend load testing with the 360-210B(15bhn). Best (5)shot group was 1 1/2" with 47gr of IMR4064 at 2174fps out of the R-77 22"bbl. Not too bad with a 2 3/4 Redfield post and crosshair! This will be my hunting load this year. It's already drawn blood....got a little too close to the scope on the last shot.
