Guys:

A couple of weeks back, "kywoodwrkr" referred me to an eBay (I know, I know, but I LOVE subverting their "good intentions" re "bullet points!") "Buy it Now" ad for zinc washers. These turn out to be the correct Harvey / Lakeville Arms washers for the "Prot-X-Bore" cast and swaged boolits (for which - thanks to the good folks here - I have several moulds and one set of C-H .38/.357 SWC swaging dies), made on the original machinery, in .38/.357 (0.358"), .44 (0.429") and .45 ACP (0.452") at least, of which I got 1000 each. (Lakeville also made these in 0.355" for the 9mms and 0.454", for the older .45 Colts; these may be available, too). They look fine, and were priced about in the same range as commercial gas checks. If you need some of these, contact Andy Hill at <kimberlt@dandy.net>.

(If you DON'T need any, but are sitting on one of these moulds you don't need, lemme know; Lyman/Ideal zinc washer and half-jacket core moulds run in the #xxx500 - xxx525 mould number range, and Hensley & Gibbs in the #198 - #232 series - with some gaps in the latter series.)

Many years ago I bought a C-H 9 mm swaging die, with a sack of them blasted zinc washers.

Never could get them to stick to the bottom of the bullet by swaging, maybe I was supposed to drop them in the 9 mm bullet mould I didn't have. :???:

Still got the 9 mm swaging die set up.

Jim:

So far I just ran a couple in the .38/.357 SWC size, in a die set otherwise just like yours, to see if they went together, and they seemed to stick OK (I got a big bunch of swaging stuff - a new subject to me - from a couple of sources, and am just checking the various items out). Let me know ivia PM f you'd consider parting with the die set and washers. (The 9mms are supposed to use 0.355" washers instead of 0.358"; apparently, the system doesn't work unless the washer is perfectly matched to groove diameter.) Might even tumble-lube with LLA or JPW if they don't work as advertised.
