I have my AR finished I made this one in 300 Blackout. I finally got my form1 for a silencer back from the atf. Now I need to decide which mold for semi auto firing of subsonic loads. I know Lee, Noe, and a couple of others make a 230-247 grain plain base mold. Which one would you recommend for feed reliability and accuracy that is available. I don't want to wait a year or 2 for a group buy to show up. Thanks Bob

It's in stock, can't comment as to it's being more or less reliable than the NOE.

I use the Lee 230gn but found that an added Hornady 30cal GC really improves accuracy. It snaps on the boat tail and I crimp these on using a Lee push through sizer at .310". These boolits are a little on the light side and it is very easy to load to supersonic levels. This winter I plan on getting a heavier mold and work up loads for my new SBR with can. All my shooting so far has been with 16" AR-15's.

I ordered the Lee mold last night. From what I've been reading about this mold is that the boat tail detracts from the bullets accuracy. I don't want a gas check on the back of the bullet because I don't want to take any chances of it coming loose in the silencer when I build it. I'm going to put the mold on the mill and remove the boat tail. If it doesn't work out I can always get another mold. I went to order the NOE mold but all he had was 5 cavity in the plain base.

I've got the Lee mold, and I was given some of the NOE 247's cast up. I couldn't get the Lee's to cycle, and I discontinued the test when they were about to start going subsonic with a heavier charge.

I was able to get the NOE to cycle and lock the bolt back with Reloader 7, but I found that the cases were a bit beat up.

I'm thinking I might want to switch to an adjustable gas block, and maybe open my gas port a bit. I want to get a hold of some AA1680 and see how it functions before I alter the gun.

I'm shooting the NOE 311 247 with 10.0 grains of AA1680, suppressed thru a AAC-SDN6, one word: FLAWLESS.

Just my two cents.

I bought a JP silent buffer for mine 16" Wilson 1 in 8" twist carbine length gas tube. My plan is adjust load for sub sonic with AA1680 then adjust buffer spring for reliable operation. Picked up some jpw to make some 45/45/10 lube today. Here's a pic of my AR I machined from a raw forging including Free float tube. Haven't machined the can yet84941

Remember that Accurate Molds has a 245 that resembles the NOE 247 and feeds wonderfully both of our 300 uppers. If you need it quickly this might not be a bad route.

Yes, the 31-240E, mine drops 245grs from range scrap. Actually designed to keep all lube grooves in the neck to avoid powder contamination. I size them to .310 with bens red. I usually run them as light supers(1250fps) as I don't have a suppressor and wanted the best performance downrange. Even with earplugs and running supersonic, you can hear the "thwap" on a cardboard target backer.
