How dose one know W/W is zink...? DAAAAA:confused: I've been casting now for 15yrs. I have two 5gal buckets full of W/W. Most of the time I just grab hand fulls of W/W and throw them into my "Melt down" pre, casting pot.http://http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/PDshooter/casting/Lead1.jpg
I cast out boolits#31141 and my HG68http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/PDshooter/casting/BulletMold.jpg

Thanks !

They make more of a tink sound than a thud when dropped on concrete. Some of them are marked with the letters zn cast into them.

hello pdshooter i havn't been at this long but have ran across a few of the zinkers //one way to tell is that most of them the weight is riveted to the clip// if one makes into the pot they just float to the top like the steel clips /// hope this helps//// mule

Not a perfict pic
But it show the ZN

Other zink WW don't have the ZN , but float in my melt pot
As I keep the temps down

I tend to sort my WW well
As I am getting 10 - 20% Zink the last 2 batchs
Between Zink , steel and stick on
I loose 20-30% in the sort

But the stick on's are used also

The WW's will be molten at just over 500 F.
Zinc has a melting temp of over 780 F.
I just turn the burner way down as soon as the WW's melt and skim the Zinc ones off with the clips and crud.
No problems so far anyway.
