Hi all,

what do you listen to while casting or reloading?

Guns N Roses for me

Axel Rose seems to sooth the soul as I charge my .429 with 25 grains of H110

Axl is a prima doņa. What a waste of talent.

I listen to whatever strikes me at the time, generally it is Metallica, AC/DC, or something from the 70s or 80s.

I think if we could get Toby Keith to write a song about casting and shooting, we'd be a little less misunderstood...or maybe more, oops.[smilie=s:

Podcasts like Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Kidd Chris, ***, Doug Benson, The Nerdist and all of Kevin Smith's shows. I prefer listening to comedy instead of music when at the bench.

If I want to learn while performing a task that doesn't require concentration I will listen to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. He's entertaining unlike most scholars.

flogging molly is a great band.
what I listen to depends on what i'm doing.
for my precision rifle stuff I listen to nothing but the clock ticking and keep a 100% consistent rhythm/pace/focus/timing of each operation.
if I gotta get the mold moving and keep it there it's Hyper Crush, Krewella, or ***** boomin in the back round and the counting is in my head.
if I just need to loaf along and cast boolits I put a movie on the tv in the shop, then I can just kinda hear it in the back round and half pay attention to the movie so I don't get bored.

I turn on the local farm house station. Over 25,000 songs, and he does his best to see you don't hear the same one in any six month period. Almost any genre you can think of is played. Also a fair amount of broadcast live performances right in the house from some top musicians and groups from around the country.

Wow, some of these music styles really date you fellers. I have a more eclectic choice of music; some times it's classical guitar, sometimes it's Do Wop, a lot of the time it's classic country (I just go me a new George Jones CD), and then there's Wilie. I also listen to Robert Johnson and Little Willie for old blues, and of course ole BB King, and I have a couple favorite Linda Ronstat CDs(smooth stuff). Heavy metal type tends to irritate me and I have a hard time staying in the same room with that playing...

Our County has 6 emergency radio stations that play uninterrupted 50's to 70's country. No DJ's no talk except every half hour there is a station announcement and perhaps a local event. I alternate between that and the 60's rock station out of Bozo. Occasionally Verdi, Vespucci, Mozart and others of that genre get into the mix.

A well known commercial caster here showed me a loud ticking clock he keeps by his pot. The steady rhythm of it gives a cadence to the time spent on cooling, return to pour and kept the mold near the same temp. Music that keeps the same beat helps but varying beats might not. Thanks, Dan.

Classic metal and rock mostly on Pandora, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, etc. Lately I've been including more modern stuff like Metallica, Rob Zombie.

Very little C&W. No rap!

I also use pandora, I use the shuffle with my stations being. Master of Shadows, Rammstein, Trace Adkins, Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock and Classi Rock rounding out the stations.

Its all over the map for kinds of music.

Country, WYCD here in the Deeetroit area.

I think if we could get Toby Keith to write a song about casting and shooting, we'd be a little less misunderstood...or maybe more, oops.[smilie=s:

Hey hey, me too!

In addition, anything along the lines of tool, staind, etc.

I like talk radio when casting. Car Talk (NPR), PGM's "Unshackled", AFA, etc. Music? When I get a chance it is KLOVE, or classical, mainly cello. As far as music is concerned otherwise it is anything from old Johnny Cash to Ska/reggae/dancehall/punk/NYHC/hardcore/Oi/classical/pop etc.

Mark Levin or a football game. Doesn't soothe the soul like Axel I suppose, but does the trick for me. :-o

Limbaugh if the time is proper. Otherwise various talk shows that talk about scripture. Never any hippie music or its offspring.

Hi all,

what do you listen to while casting or reloading?..........

Rain, sleet, snow, wind against the metal roof, hiss of a propane burner, tap of a hardwood dowel on a sprue plate,....

Some sounds are inherent to the conditions which created the opportunity to cast and some are part of the process, but silence, or the absence of man-made noise, is more rare and endangered than beautiful vistas. That's one reason I like winter so much. Everyone else is in their houses instead of outside making noise.

New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Stones, Kinky Freidman, Zepplin, Hendrix, John Prine, Blue Oyster Cult, Zappa, Elvin Bishop, Clapton, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Pink Floyd, Robin Moxey, Sea Level, The Who, Tommy Castro, Yankovic, Cocker, Tull, Alice Cooper and thousands of others, but that's all I have loaded at the casting table today.

Don't like (C)rap, crooners, Boy(?) Bands, Opera, newer country, female pop singers, clASSical, Ska and most of the newer gut screemy head banger stuff.

not that I'm opinionated or anything....

With a 120 gig MP3 player on a shuffle mode, it's jazz, r and b, rock, bluegrass and a little Lyle Lovett to round it out.

Axl is a prima doņa. What a waste of talent.

I listen to whatever strikes me at the time, generally it is Metallica, AC/DC, or something from the 70s or 80s.

I agree. Guns N Roses wasted their talent and crashed and burned.

I like heavy metal--Megadeth. Hard rock too--Led Zeppelin. Rock--Rolling Stones, Beatles.

I'm a classic rock and roller at heart.
But when casting, I log onto Pandora, and listen to the "Hot club jazz" station.

Usually Trop Rock. Buffett is still on my **** list for saying, "If you aren't voting for Obama you aren't welcome at this concert" but there are many others that make the same genre of music. Bob Marley still visits the CD player regularly. I gave up the French Horn and started playing a steel drum a few years ago. I've gotten good enough to enjoy playing i but can't perform in public yet. I still love good Romantic/Classical/Baroque and a little John Phillips Sousa, too. No head banging or rap.

Don't mind a little country, either. The night Johnny Cash died I was in the French Quarter. It was amazing. "Ring of Fire" or some other great Cash classic was coming out of every bar up and down Bourbon Street no matter what their normal genre was.

Otherwise, XM Patriot or downloads of Gun Talk.
