I had not heard. Seemed to be a good man. Hate to see the good ones go.

Yes I saw that - and he wasn't that old - Shame really
He's got a book due out in December and a movie based on his Jack Ryan character due out then as well

yep 66.
i have been following some of jack ryan's exploits off and on for a while now.

odd how he wrote about terrorist attacks years ago [in his books] that have similar incidents take place years later .

Debt of Honor and Executive Orders are my favorites. Would make great movies but they would butcher beyond recognition if given the chance CAIR and Chinese wouldn't like them too much.

I heard he got a lot of his information sitting in bars in the D.C. area listening to people talk who shouldn't have been. I imagine the old Soviet Union used to do the same.

I have read all of the Jack Ryan books at least twice. Other than Red October, the movies were real butcher jobs, especially Sum of All Fears. Between his passing and that of Vince Flynn, I am struggling to find a new author to read.

I to have most of the books of Clancy and Flynn. Great action novels, and to lose both at such a young age. We will surely miss them in the future. tks Ken

Very technical writer from what i've heard.Seems he was able to amagine things that where real but not known by most.I read he was asked by a high ranking official in the military "I want to know who cleared it".Maybe Mr. Clancey had some inside info?He was very smart for an insurance salesman lol.Hunt For Red October was a good movie.Man 66 is about the same age my father passed.RIP

I have read most of his novels and one of my best memories involving him came just after I read his first novel, "Hunt For Red October". I was a Navy liaison officer (explosives and mine countermeasures)on a Coast Guard Admiral's Staff for port security along with some submariner senior officers (Bangor Subbase is nearby). The first reaction of the submariner officers after reading it was: "How the @#$%!^ did he know that? That is supposed to be classified!!".

What a shame... i have to agree with most that "The Hunt for Red October" was my favorite book and movie!

I have read almost all of his books. I actually just finished one about a week before his death. Another author I like alot is Clive Cussler not a technical type author but great story teller.

66is certainly too young! He also wrote several tech books: Marine A Guided Tour of a Marine Expeditionary Unit, One for A AF Fighter Wing, Armored Cav, and Submarine's too.

I have most of his stuff; break into a cold sweat reading some of it! That man could spin an all-to-believable yarn.

Have read nearly all of his books (some multiple times). Recommended many to other that have asked for more in return.
Personal favorites are Without Remorse and Executive Orders. Have anxiously awaited the release of Without Remorse as a movie. May never be released, as the subject matter would not go over well in today's political climate.
Am looking forward to the upcoming book and movie. As well as the impact his writings have had upon fellow writers and readers.

Oh, it was noticed! I heard it on the national news!

He wrote some great action books and made you feel as if you were in the action! I feel like I lost a friend. I was hoping for many more years and many more books!
