Hi

I decided with current ammo situations I would start casting for my 9mm pistol

Is there a place one can buy premade cast bullets to try in my pistol before I buy a mold

any advice would be appreciated

Dry Creek Bullets (www.drycreekbullets.com) is the first name on my list for commercially available cast bullets. Lynn produces a high quality product at a reason price using designs that are generally available from Lyman or RCBS.

If you want a very very nice mold you might check with MiHec to see if he has another one from this order: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?197744-MiHec-9mm-125-gr-four-cavity-HP-or-four-cavity-solid-6th-rerun I missed the window but as able to get added on to it. It showed up yesterday and was really nice!

I also just received this mold a few weeks ago and cast a few thousand of these so far and found it to be a great mold too:
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?206519-HM%B2-9mm-124-147Gr-6-CAV-mold

If you need a few to test I can size/lube them to .357 and send you a few to test if that would help.

thanks for the fast reply and generous offer, that was going to be my next post ! & yes I would really like to try your cast bullets please. I will pm you my address etc

anyone that has a different mold than the 2 above and wouldn't mind sending me a couple to test ( Id like to buy a couple and pay shipping)before I arbitrarily buy molds would be greatly appreciated, Id like to try a Lee mold cast bullet as the Lee molds are readily available

thanks for looking

If you go with the Lee 9mm, I would recommend a trunicated cone design rather than a round nose. The ogive on the round nose design forces you to seat them pretty deep so your boolit wont jam up against the lands. Don't get frustrated with it, 9mm is one of the most difficult pistol calibers to load cast, but there are many helpful 9mm threads on the board.

look in our Vendor section.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/forumdisplay.php?111
several of them offer castboolits ready to load

I like the Lee 358 125 RF
http://leeprecision.com/6-cav-358-125-rf.html
yeah it's a 38 boolit, but works great for 9mm
and most 9mm are larger than standard spec.

Also you can post a add in The Boolit Exchange
