Hi
Up here we run fairly hgh humidity. Iron molds tend to rust if they are left out. Aside from bathing them in oil to store is there a better way? Suggestions/

Exclude the air which obviously has moisture in it. Use one of the vacuum-seal gizmos they sell for use in the kitchen. When unsealed your mold is ready for use, you don't have to go through the degreasing procedure again.

I heard on here that Ballistol will wash off with hot water? Anybody know for sure? Might want to use soap too?

I have used a vacuum sealer for a couple of years now, and have been satisfied with the results. I like to seal them while still warm from use, but warming them some other way seems fine, too. I wrap them in one or two paper towels so that the corners don't puncture the bag.
Storing in military metal ammo boxes with VPI paper and/or moisture absorber would also work, but every time you open it to get one out you let in moisture.

I keep my mold in a dark damp room and/or in cheese.
What?
Oh. I keep my iron MOULDS ;) in a properly dehumidified gun/reloading room. No other storage required. :-P

I use a water/air tight 50 cal. ammo can.....well....several of them.
I use desiccant bags to remove moisture. (A few of the larger bags in each can) It's a lot easier for me since I swap out moulds in the Master Caster pretty often.

Another old country trick I remember. My mother always put a few grains of rice in the salt shaker to absorb moisture and keep the salt from clumping. I can't see any possible harm in putting some rice (that's uncooked rice, guys) in your mold container.

I spray mine with graphite while still warm. No rust...and when Im ready to cast again i clean the cavity with a q-tip and brake clean.

LPS-2 for storage, carb cleaner or Crud Cutter to remove the LPS-2.

While my iron molds are still warm I spray pledge on them.
Once I'm ready to use them again I spray them down with carb cleaner.
